Celebrate the Legacy of Allen AME Church
For more than 150 years, Allen AME Church has been a place of faith, resilience, fellowship, and community in Cape May. On Saturday, September 19, you're invited to be part of a special afternoon that honors this remarkable legacy while celebrating its next chapter.
Presented by the Allen AME Legacy Committee of East Lynne Theater Company, this special event brings together former church members, historians, artists, educators, and community leaders to preserve and share the stories that have shaped Allen AME Church and generations of Cape May families. FREE to the public; reservations requested.

Keynote Address
Hear from Rev. Dr. Mark Kelly Tyler, Historiographer of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and former pastor of historic Mother Bethel AME Church, as he explores the enduring significance of the AME Church's history and legacy.
Panel Discussion: Faith, Learning & Belonging
Community members will reflect on Allen AME Church's lasting influence through personal stories and meaningful conversation.
Live Music
Enjoy inspiring musical performances throughout the afternoon.
Historic Exhibits
Explore photographs, artwork, and archival materials that bring the history of Allen AME Church and Cape May's African American community to life.
