SUBMISSIONS FOR AFTERMATH
"Aftermath" (1919), written by one of America’s first Black women playwrights, Mary P. Burrill, tells the story of a Black soldier during World War I who was awarded the French War Cross for single-handedly fighting off twenty German soldiers, only to return home to discover that his father has been lynched.  It will be presented as a virtual reading on ELTC's YouTube Channel for free in April for 4 days.  There will be 2 Zoom rehearsals and then the Zoomed reading/performance that will be recorded, edited, and uploaded for viewing.  Please submit resumes by Sunday, February 20 to producing artistic director, Gayle Stahlhuth at eastlynneco@aol.com and put AFTERMATH in the subject line.  Actors receive financial compensation.  Funding is through New Jersey Alliance's "Stages Festival."  For more information, visit this page.

Looking to cast the following Black rolls: MAM SUE  - elderly grandmother, who's son was lynched, and her grandchildren: MILLIE - a young woman; LONNIE - a young man; and JOHN - the soldier who received the medal; REVEREND LUKE MOSEBY - a friend; and MRS. HAWKINS - another friend.

AUDITIONS FOR THE 2022 MAINSTAGE SEASON

East Lynne Theater Company (ELTC) is having one day of Equity open-call virtual submissions for its 2022 Season.  Submissions by non-union actors will be seen after the Equity actors’ videos have been viewed. The theater is located in Cape May, NJ where all shows will be rehearsed. The company operates under an Equity SPT 3 Contract.
On Monday, March 7, a 2-minute video per actor may be submitted between 1:00 AM - 11:00 PM to eastlynneco@aol.com.  The preference of delivery is either YouTube or WeTransfer, but if videos are submitted through other means, they will be seen. If there are difficulties in viewing any video, the actor will be contacted.
Producing Artistic director of ELTC, Gayle Stahlhuth, and director Mark Edward Lang will be viewing the videos. Stahlhuth is directing "Who am I This Time? (& Other Conundrums of Love)” and Lang is directing "Possessing Harriet."
Please present a comic monologue if auditioning for “Who Am I This Time?” and a dramatic monologue if interested in “Possessing Harriet.” Actors may do 2 different monologues within the 2-minute time frame. Auditioning with a comic piece will not prevent being considered for “Possessing Harriet” and vice versa. ELTC is committed to nontraditional casting and equal employment opportunities.

With her are suffragist Elizabeth Cady and abolitionist Gerrit Smith. Based on a true story it premiered in 2018, at Syracuse Stage. Mr. Bass received a commission from the Onondaga Historical Association to write "Possessing Harriet."  Rehearsals begin on Monday, September 5, and the show runs from September 21 – October 15, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM.
