YAEL RASOOLY is a critically lauded visual theater director, actress, singer and puppeteer. Growing up between Toronto, Jerusalem and Seattle, Yael trained as a classical pianist and singer from an early age when she began touring Internationally. She studied theater design in London at Saint Martin's college of art and design. Her distinct theatrical language, which she began developing at School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem and further formation in France, is based on a multidisciplinary approach, combining different forms of theater, puppetry, visual art and music.
Her shows include Paper Cut, winner of the Excellence Award at the New York International Fringe Festival, The House by the Lake, a musical cabaret for actresses, dolls and objects depicting three sisters in hiding during WWII that has been touring for 15 years, most recently at the Museum of Modern Art in Chicago(2025), Bon Voyage and other Lies, based on the stories and in collaboration with acclaimed author Etgar Keret, Silence Makes Perfect in collaboration with Internationally renowned classical pianist Amit Dolberg (Meitar Ensemble) premiered at Le Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes Charleville-Mézières, and her last creation, Edith and Me- the 3rd chapter in her trilogy shedding light on violence towards women, in collaboration with Norland Visual theater and numerous National theaters in France is currently touring extensively worldwide.
Alongside her prolific theatrical career, Rasooly performs as a singer with numerous ensembles and orchestras in Europe and North America. Since 2019 she is regularly invited to perform at the Neue Gallery in NYC, has been featured at BIRDLAND jazz club, La Chaufferie-Machine du Moulin Rouge, Le château de Versailles, the inauguration for Le HALLE DE LA MACHINE in Toulouse, to name a few.
Her shows have been presented in over 30 countries and hundreds of festivals and theaters worldwide, garnering numerous International awards.

DEIRDRE McLAUGHLIN* (Director) is an award-winning American director, dramaturg, and researcher based in London. She is a recipient of the Genesis Future Directors Award, an Arts Council England DYCP grant, and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain’s Olwen Wymark Award, in addition to numerous awards for her directing work in the international fringe. She has directed and developed work with leading UK and international institutions including the Royal Court Theatre, the Young Vic, Soho Theatre, The Place, Chisenhale Dance Space, Camden People’s Theatre, Pleasance Theatre, and Shakespeare’s Globe.
Some recent credits include: The Secretaries (Young Vic), Brotherly, Otherly, Disorderly (UK tour), Pecs: The Boys Are Back in Town (Soho Theatre), Hip Crip Hooray (Brighton Fringe), My Dear Aunty Nell (Camden Peoples Theatre), How Disabled Are You? (The Park Theater) and The Queen of the North (ARC Stockton).
She holds a PhD in Actor Training & Embodied Cognitive Science, and is internationally recognized for her work in new writing, dramaturgy, and community-based arts practice. She teaches regularly at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD) where her work focuses on directing, inclusive rehearsal practices, artist development, and creative collaboration with marginalized and working-class communities.
