2024 STUDENT THEATER WORKSHOP

TWO WEEKS: JULY 1 - 10; performance on July 12

One of the coolest things about Sally Bingham’s Student Summer Workshop is that she chooses her theme based on East Lynne’s Main Stage season. The year my nephew did the workshop, for instance, East Lynne was producing HUCKLEBERRY FINN—so Sally gave us TOM SAWYER, DETECTIVE.

Last summer, we opened the season with A TALE OF TWO CITIES, so Sally did the most kid-friendly Dickens—OLIVER TWIST.

Sally is able to do this because she writes the shows herself—in collaboration with the students themselves. The Workshop students don’t just get the experience of putting on a play. They get the experience of creating one.

This year, East Lynne is producing DIAL M FOR MURDER, so Sally is countering with
DIAL CM for (a CAPE MAY) MURDER. I expect it will be another wonderful, fun workshop for everyone.

My daughter had always wanted to try theater, and when your company started a summer workshop for students, she was thrilled. At first, she just wanted to work behind the scenes, but once she got there she jumped right in and did five different parts. She gained a great deal of confidence in being on stage. It was the highlight of her summer and she can't wait until next year.
