Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ)

East Lynne Theater Company's Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ)
Approved by the Board of Trustees on January 11, 2021

First and foremost, at East Lynne Theater Company (ELTC), we have always believed that theater is for everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or socio-economic status.  This applies to staff, board members, volunteers, artists, and audience. We also realize that theater can help dismantle oppression and systemic racism through its storytelling and create narratives in which diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) are highlighted and celebrated.

That being said, we at ELTC are deepening our resolve to fight racial and other forms of injustice.  We are committed to integrating and elevating DEIJ into all aspects of our work, starting conversations and being a platform to promote diverse voices, and actively engage new partners to ensure that our company is inviting, inclusive, diverse, just and equitable.

While statements are important, actions matter. This will be a transformational and rewarding journey which will push ELTC in ways we can’t begin to imagine as we better incorporate DEIJ.  We look forward to taking this journey with the hope that we can help to create a better future for all.
