EAST LYNNE BOARD MEMBER EXPANDS REACH
Longtime Board Member Named President of Cape May Chamber
April 22, 2024 (Cape May, N.J.) – East Lynne Theater Company Board President Susan Tischler is excited to share the news that longtime board member Bernadette Matthews has been elected president of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May.
For years leading up to this announcement, Matthews served as vice president of the Chamber. Other roles for Matthews have included executive director of Cape May Jazz Festival and the Center for Community Arts, as well as station manager of WFCA 101.5 FM.
“We could not be more excited for Bernadette,” Tischler said. “She is a vital force within the Cape May community and this new position proves that more than ever.” Tischler, who serves as East Lynne’s board president, says that Matthews is one of many excellent and authoritative local and regional businesspeople on East Lynne’s board, which consists of a wide range of experts within their fields, such as designers, CPAs, estate planners, marketers, systems engineers, and others.
“But they all have one thing in common – a love for the arts – which brought them to East Lynne and, for which, I am eternally grateful,” Tischler said. She believes that Matthews is a natural for her new role at the Chamber, and hopes that it may also help expand East Lynne’s reach within the community, especially now with the theater company’s Capital Campaign to raise funds for its future home, the Clemans Theater at Allen AME Church, in full swing.
“We are so proud of all of our board members and their accomplishments, and even prouder that each helps play a behind-the-scenes role in continuing to help East Lynne thrive,” Tischler said.
