Artistic Director Craig Fols calls A Case for the Existence of God by Samuel D. Hunter, a MacArthur Fellowship Award winner, “one of the best plays” he’s ever seen. East Lynne’s first real contemporary play revolves around two men—one Black, one white; one straight, one gay; both single fathers of daughters—who, through empathy and humor, form an unlikely bond within the walls of an office cubicle.
Hunter also wrote the award-winning play “The Whale,” as well as the movie of the same name that starred Brendan Fraser.
A Case for the Existence of God runs Wednesdays to Saturdays, September 18 through October 12 at 7:00 PM.

KEN HORNBECK* (Stage Manager) moved to Cape May from Atlanta two years ago, and absolutely loves it here. He is delighted to be returning to East Lynne as stage manager for this beautiful play, having previously appeared as an actor in The Death of Sherlock Holmes and Jersey Lawman last year. Ken’s lifelong passion has been working with children, teens and young adults. As a director of programs in New York City and Atlanta, his work has focused on training youth in how to use theater for self-expression, and as a tool to educate their peers about sexual decision-making, bias and other social issues. As an actor, favorite roles include: Buzz in Love, Valour, Compassion; Pirelli in Sweeney Todd and Hysterium in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Much gratitude to Craig and ELTC.
